I took all my fears and through them in the ocean cause I didn't want to see the tears of the forgiven
And I tried to run away
But You still found me
Between the winds and the waves,
I was found
I heard of Your plan and ran in the other direction cause I didn't want to see mercies upon mercies
And I tried to run away but You still found me
Between the winds and the waves, I was found
They cast their lots and drew my name out
And I was swallowed up for three whole days
What could I say? "Take this away"? But if I don't go, how will they know?
And I tried to run away and You still found me
Between the winds and the waves, I was found
They cast their lots and drew my name out
And I was swallowed up for three whole days!

Jonah 2
03:39

“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,
and he answered me;
out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
and you heard my voice.
For you cast me into the deep,
into the heart of the seas,
and the flood surrounded me;
ball your waves and your billows
passed over me.
Then I said, ‘I am driven away
from your sight;
yet I shall again look
upon your holy temple.’
The waters closed in over me to take my life;
the deep surrounded me;
weeds were wrapped about my head
at the roots of the mountains.
I went down to the land
whose bars closed upon me forever;
yet you brought up my life from the pit,
O Lord my God.
When my life was fainting away,
I remembered the Lord,
and my prayer came to you,
into your holy temple.
Those who pay regard to vain idols
forsake their hope of steadfast love.
But I with the voice of thanksgiving
will sacrifice to you;
what I have vowed I will pay.
Salvation belongs to the Lord!”
And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.

When I was younger I thought that I could run away from my problems
But now that I'm older I can see that it is just not the case
Something in me changed hidden the whale subject to your mercies in between the scales
I saw the heart of man it's such a horrible thing please help us to love again
So by the seaside I took all my pride and hung it up at the gates
I went and I spoke of how your destruction is coming in forty days
They fell down and prayed for mercy and for grace shame was running deep and ashes in heaps
They saw the heart of man it's such a horrible thing please help us to love again
They saw the heart of man it's such a horrible thing please help us to love again.

I went to the east side to see what you would decide and I was distressed to say the least at the wilting of the leaf
And I'm so angry I could die but I'm still confused to what gives me the right
And now I see you're
Slow to anger and rich in love
Your grace is my anchor and your mercies are a flood
The irony you'd choose to demonstrate your mercies to a people I could not stand in a far and distant land
Now I see you're
Slow to anger and rich in love
Your grace is my anchor and your mercies are a flood
Down below we all know the waves look just like a grave and they long for our souls and they call us by name but
You're calling us from the deep just to go deeper still You're calling us by our names You're calling us...
And now I see You're
Slow to anger and rich in love
Your grace is my anchor and your mercies are a flood
And I tried to run away and you called me by name
And they spat in Your face and You loved them anyways
